Blog post #1
After years of putting off writing a blog, here I am and man does it feel great.
I’ve never been good at expressing myself whether verbally or on paper. The thoughts are clear in my head, but to translate the thoughts into words ouff –at some point I just didn’t even bother. It is however something I’ve been working on a lot over the last 3 years and today, with a little help from friends I am writing my very first blog !
My boyfriend, Matt is one of the 2 people to thank for this, he’s constantly supporting me and pushing me to what I love and one of those things is my job. Its a few months he’s been kicking me in the butt to write a blog about work related topics, product reviews and everything I fill his ears with (Poor kid haha). So instead of busting his chops with my constant ‘Matt I LOOVEE this product ! It’s so hydrating, the texture is great and the ingredients even better’ I’ll bust yours.
The 2nd person is my high school friend, Michelle – one of the most interesting people I know. Mature and wise, she’s a great example that age isn’t always everything, life, what it throws at you and how you take what it throws at you is. She’s given me so much great advice and has such an inspiring point of view on life, it’s beautiful... But I’ll cut all the sappy crap now :p.
Mid February she posted a link on Facebook saying “If you haven't signed up for my weekly emails on creative content strategy yet, you should! First one is going out on Monday morning.”, so I did, mostly to support her because I really had no clue what I was signing up to. Best.Subscription.EVER ! Her weekly emails are well structured, easy to read and in the end very motivating and thought provoking – they are like a HOW TO for running a business, everything seems simpler. I personally love to read them before bed, ironically they are soothing and leave me in a positive mindset. Michelle’s goal, through her weekly newsletters, is the following:
“I help creative entrepreneurs (and by ‘creative entrepreneurs’ I mean anyone who is creative about how they do business) identify a voice for their brand and establish themselves as the kind of expert others will want to gravitate to, follow and buy from. From your message—to your website—to your social media feed: I’ll help you put together a solid strategy for your online presence through methods that are honest, educational and true to your brand’s voice. By the time I’m done with you, we’ll have crafted a whole boat load of creative ways to tell your brand’s story and grow your business.”
I strongly suggest everyone (especially anyone with a business or who is self-employed) check out her website: http://www.shellsinthekeys.com/
To end this blog I leave you with this quote: “keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars.”
